About Matatu Evolution
Matatu is more than just a card game — it's a cultural institution in Uganda. For decades, Matatu has been the go-to card game at family gatherings, school breaks, university hostels, and social events across the country. It's a game that transcends age, background, and status — anyone who has grown up in Uganda knows Matatu.
The game is played with a standard deck of cards and involves strategic card placements, suit matching, and special action cards that can turn the tide in an instant. Its blend of luck, strategy, and social interaction has made it one of the most popular card games in East Africa.
Why Matatu Evolution Exists
Despite its popularity, the Matatu card game has never had a proper digital home. While card games from other parts of the world enjoy polished mobile apps and online communities, Matatu remained largely analog — until now.
Matatu Evolution was created to change that. Our mission is simple: take the game that millions of Ugandans already love and bring it to mobile with the quality, polish, and features it deserves.
